The Art of War
In the Age of Chaos, war is inevitable. At some point you will have to fight even if you are the most peaceful person ever to live. Combat in AoC is done through military units. Each unit has an offensive(swords) and defensive(shields) strength. This strength determines how much damage is done in combat. When you are attacking someone the offensive(swords) value of your troops is used and the defensive(shields) value of your opponent is used. Likewise when someone attacks you the defensive value of your troops is compared to the offensive value of their troops. It is best then when attacking to send only units with a high swords rating and leave your units with a high shield rating at home. There is a certain degree of random chance involved. A general might make a mistake or soldiers might get sick.

The readiness of your forces also plays a huge role. Each time you attack your readiness will go down but each time your attacked your readiness will go up. Readiness will also increase over time as your troops train each turn. Keep this is mind when you start attacking every turn. Your military will weaken while your enemy's will get stronger.

When attacking you may choose one objective either land or resources or people. These function as one would expect if you break through the enemy's lines you'll get some of whatever objective you chose. Remember that people from another land won't particularily like being picked up and carried off and so their morale will be low.  The amount of loot you get is controled by the number of people you send, your relative size and how much they have to take.

A list of all military units is now visible in the game under Help > Main Help > Military Overview
